International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race
January 31 - February 8, 2014 Across Wyoming / Utah
Similar to the Tour de France, the race stops in a different town each night. The race spans eight stage stops and four states, traveling nearly 350 miles. Founded in 1996 by Frank Teasley to make sled dog racing more accessible to the public, the International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race is high-action sled dog race, traveling through multiple western Wyoming communities, offering plenty of opportunity for viewing these incredible dogs in action. 30 teams from all over the world to compete in the event. Festivities, from bonfires, fireworks, live music to food and drink in every community along the route beginning in Jackson, Wyoming and ending in Park City, Utah highlight the event. Elk Fest, Antler Sale and Auction
May 17-18, 2014 in Jackson, Wyoming
Every spring, thousands of elk wintering on the National Elk Refuge lose their antlers before migrating to summer range. The Boy Scouts harvest the antlers, auctioning them to bidders from around the world who craft them into furniture, light fixtures, jewelry, and more. A weekend of activities built around the Antler Sale and Auction, Elkfest provides exciting opportunities to celebrate nature, outdoor skills, hunting and ecological education and awareness. Woodchopper’s Jamboree & Rodeo
June 14-15, 2014 in Encampment, Wyoming
For this 54th annual event, the chips fly during Father's Day weekend in Encampment as loggers come from all over the country to compete for the title of Rocky Mountain Champion Lumberjack. Using power saws, axes and hand saws, men and women competitors cut down “trees”, chop logs and saw squared wood blocks in half, racing the clock for the fastest time. Cowboys ride bulls and broncs. 1838 Mountain Man Rendezvous
July 2-6, 2014 in Riverton, Wyoming
Founded in 1989 for the express purpose of preserving a rare historical landmark, the 1838 Rendezvous Association continues working toward that goal. Mountain men left no physical trace of their lives upon the western landscape and this event is dedicated to the men, women and children who moved so lightly upon the world that only the land and the river remain as a witness to those shining times. Held each year during the first week of July, on the site of the original 1838 Rendezvous, this event features a week-long re-creation of the trappers and traders’ encampment, games of skills, food, dancing and entertainment. Cody Stampede

Since the turn of the century, rodeos and parades have been part of the Fourth of July here in Cody, Wyoming. For 90 plus years, starting officially in 1919, the Cody Stampede Rodeo has been held every summer. 2013 marks the 94th anniversary of the nightly performances. These two events establish Cody as not only one of the longest running successful professional rodeos, but also the only place in the country that has a rodeo performance nightly. The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association named the Cody Stampede "Best Large Outdoor Rodeo of the Year" in 1998 and 1999. Cheyenne Frontier Days

Cheyenne's world-class rodeo is truly the Daddy of 'em All. Known for its fast pace and large number of contestants, the CFD rodeo ensures that visitors see more rodeo action - three sections of bulls, and two sections of saddle and bareback broncs daily - than they can see at any other rodeo. A tradition for 113 years and billed as the World’s Largest Outdoor Rodeo & Western Celebration. Wyoming’s Big Show

When Wyoming wants to kick up its heels, it does it during the Big Show. Each summer Wyoming's Big Show draws folks from hundreds of miles to Rock Springs and the Sweetwater Events Complex. Also known as the Sweetwater Fair, The Big Show delivers on fun with rodeo action, family-friendly carnival rides, a wide variety of delicious dining options, evening concerts and 4-H and livestock exhibits. River Festival
August 16 & 17, 2013 in Green River, Wyoming
The City of Green River takes its name from the Green River which flows through the center of the city. This two-day festival, a tradition in Green River (an oasis in the "High Desert Country") celebrates this valued waterway with a Cajun Shrimp Boil and pasta feed, concerts and live bands, Great Duck Race, Kayak rodeo, marathon race, free kids games and a dog show. Fort Bridger Mountain Man Rendezvous
August 29 - September 1, 2014 in Fort Bridger, Wyoming
Join us for the Fort Bridger Rendezvous. This is a mountain man rendezvous in celebration of the Fur Trade Rendezvous Era that occurred in the Rocky Mountains between 1825-1840. A tradition now for more than 35 years, it is one of the largest mountain man gatherings in the nation. Highlights include Traders Row featuring 1840s period trade goods with 140 traders, entertainment from bagpipes to violins, Indian dances, face painting, throwing and shooting contest and kids’ contest.
