Boston Marathon

The 118th running of the Boston Marathon is the world's oldest annual marathon and ranks as one of the world's most prestigious road racing events. Boston Harborfest
July 1-6, 2014 - Boston, Massachusetts
Harborfest is a favorite yearly destination for 4th of July festivities. It is a six-day Fourth of July Festival that showcases the colonial and maritime heritage of the cradle of the American Revolution: the historic City of Boston. Now in its 28th year, Harborfest is considered to be the largest patriotic celebration in the nation with visitors enjoying more than 200 activities during the Festival. Boston Pops 40th Anniversary Fireworks Spectacular
July 3 & 4, 2014 - Boston, Massachusetts
This is America’s premier Independence Day Celebration where over 500,000 event-goers come together each year. Nationally known this Boston Pops concert and fireworks display takes places at the Hatch Shell on the Esplanade, which is an outdoor concert venue next to the Charles River in downtown Boston. Barnstable County Fair
July 21-27, 2014 - East Falmouth, Massachusetts
The Barnstable County Fair has been an annual summer tradition on Cape Cod for 168 years. The Fair is a place where families can spend the day together and share experiences they can only experience at the Barnstable County Fair. Lowell Folk Fest

Tanglewood Jazz Fest

The Tanglewood Jazz Festival is held on Labor Day weekend at Tanglewood, the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Topsfield Fair
October 3 - 13, 2014 - Topsfield, Massachusetts
The colorful and often exciting history of Topsfield Fair began in 1818 when the Essex Agricultural Society, the non-profit organization that owns the Topsfield Fair, was officially granted a charter on June 12th of that year. America’s oldest agriculture fair, the Topsfield Fair began 186 years ago when a group of local farmers met to further the interests of the agricultural community of Essex County. Today the fair offers everything from livestock to Midway, opening parade and sand sculpture. Head of the Charles Regatta
October 18-19, 2014 - Boston, Massachusetts
The world's largest two-day rowing event, Head Of The Charles Regatta was first held in 1965. "Head" races, a class of regattas, are generally three-miles-long boat races the winners of which are awarded the honorary title of "Head Of The Charles." Today, more than 7,500 athletes from around the world compete in 55 different race events. The Regatta now attracts up to 300,000 spectators during the October weekend. First Night
December 31, 2014 - Boston, Massachusetts
First night Boston is the largest New Year's Eve event in North America. Celebrating the arts and showcasing Boston's cultural and artistic communities through over 250 exhibitions and performances by both local and internationally recognized artists, activities start at 1pm and run to midnight. Highlights of the festivities include the Boston Pops Symphony Hall concert broadcast live on video screens on City Hall Plaza, and the fireworks display over the harbor.
The Boston Marathon is an annual marathon hosted by several cities in Greater Boston in eastern Massachusetts. It is always held on Patriots' Day, the third Monday of April. The reace began in 1897, inspired by the success of the first modern-day marathon competition in the 1896 Summer Olympics, the Boston Marathon is the world's oldest annual marathon, and ranks as one of the world's best-known road racing events. It is one of six World Marathon Majors. Since 1897, the Boston Athletic Association (B.A.A.) has managed this event. Amateur and professional runners from all over the world compete in the Boston Marathon each year, braving the hilly New England terrain and varying weather to take part in the race. The event attracts 500,000 spectators each year, making it New England's most widely viewed sporting event. Though starting with 18 participants in 1897, the event now attracts an average of about 20,000 registered participants each year, with 26,895 people entering in 2011.[4] The Centennial Boston Marathon in 1996 established a record as the world's largest marathon with 38,708 entrants, 36,748 starters, and 35,868 finishers
