FLORIDA - A Global Tourism Meca!
As a state that is built primarily around tourism, Florida is a wonderful option for your next travel adventure. This is one of the most visited states in the United States, and it has much to offer all who come and visit this popular destination. This state is well-named the Sunshine State and is also known for its sand and surf, the Everglades, the Florida Keys, South Beach and of course Disney World. However, there is so much more to this state, and it continues to be a huge draw for tourists, who return again and again.
Florida’s rich history goes back to when the first Native Americans began living in its peninsula around twelve thousand years ago, and then Juan Ponce de Leon, a Spanish explorer, first came to the state in 1513. The state was eventually named by the explorer for the time at which he found it in April. Pascua Florida is a term in Spanish that means feast of flowers, and from then on the state was known as Florida. It was not, however, until March 3, 1845 when Florida was actually recognized as a state of the U.S., becoming the 27th named state.
There are plenty of opportunities for sightseeing in this beautiful state, from the gorgeous white beaches along the southwest coast to the beautiful tropics and flower gardens. Florida is also home to several national parks such as the Everglades National park, the Dry Tortugas National Park and the Fort Caroline National Memorial.
The main destinations of Florida are Tampa, Orlando, Miami, Fort Lauderdale and Jacksonville, but you can also explore other wonderful cities such as Sarasota, which lies on the southwest coast and is home to one of the most beautiful white beaches in the world. It is easy to enjoy this beautiful city at your leisure as you enter into a different world of beauty that resides on the Sarasota Bay.
