White House Easter Egg Roll

A fun family event that has been popular for over 134 years, the White House Easter Egg Roll offers entertainment for more than 35,000 people, including very young children, who gather on the South Lawn of the White House together with the President and his family for games, sports, stories, cooking demonstrations and the traditional egg roll on the Lawn. National Cherry Blossom Festival

This is a wonderful time to visit DC. Though principally arranged to mark the friendship now between Japan and the USA, and in memory and admiration of the Japanese gift of more than 3,000 cherry trees in 1912 from the mayor of Tokyo City, the National Cherry Blossom Festival also celebrates the beginnings of spring in Washington DC. Fun of the festival is about the blossoming of the cherry trees as well ass an array of traditional examples and exhibits of Japanese performances, arts, crafts and food. National Memorial Day Celebration & Parade

The 2014 National Memorial Day Parade will feature a tribute to the generation that served and sacrificed in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn, following the formal end of the war last December. ALL veterans of Iraq are invited to participate. Paying Tribute to the American veterans from the Revolutionary War to the obviously more recent Operation Iraqi Freedom, the National Memorial Day Parade attracts over 150,000 spectators with a spectacular parade of marching bands and veterans units from more than 50 states as they march down eleven blocks of Constitution Avenue starting at 7th Streets. Marine Corps Marathon

This the the 4th largest US Marathon and 9th largest in the world. A popular event for 38 years, The USATF certified course of the Marine Corps Marathon, otherwise known as “The People’s Marathon” and the "Marathon of the Monuments”, which attracts more than 6,000 contestants covers a relatively flat, winding route through Washington DC passing by some well known and important landmarks such as the Capitol, Union Station, the Jefferson, and Lincoln Memorials. National Christmas Tree Lighting & Pageant of Peace

Every December a "Pageant of Peace" is held on the Ellipse starting with the National Christmas Tree lighting on December 1. The tree is decorated and lighted every night until 11 PM through the end of December.
