Essential Travel Services Are Operating Normally
- Visa and ESTA processing – fully operational
- Airport security, customs, and air traffic control – fully staffed
- Border crossings and entry procedures – fully staffed
- Transportation and travel infrastructure – operating as usual
America’s Attractions Await
- National Parks: Many of our stunning national parks remain open to visitors; however, visitor centers, concessions, and other amenities may not be available. Please refer to specific National Park websites for complete and up-to-date information. The following national parks are not open during the government shutdown:
- Arizona – Petrified Forrest National Park
- California – Alcatraz Island and Muir Woods National Monument.
- New Mexico – Carlsbad Caverns and White Sands National Parks
- Museums and Cultural Sites: Smithsonian museums in Washington, D.C. are scheduled to remain open through October 11. There are also thousands of other museums, attractions, and cultural destinations across the country that are welcoming visitors every day, uninterrupted. The following museums and cultural sites are not open during the government shutdown:
- Philadelphia – Several landmarks in Philadelphia’s Independence National Historical Park — including the Liberty Bell Center, Independence Hall and the Benjamin Franklin Museum
- St. Louis – Gateway Arch
